The other plein air I've done at the Cimitero delle Porte Sante, on the third picture you can see the ice cream made by the local monks I took 3 times in a row. It was really delicious (you have to make do when you don't have any coffee nearby!)

Plein air in Florence from last june...I loved to

Plein air in Florence from last june...I loved to paint at the cemetery of San Miniato, not only you can study some cool sculptures alongside nature but also have very little people coming by so maximum peace! The only bad thing I remember was the super hot weather, and unfortunately the shadows change a lot 😅 it was impossible to paint after 12.
I was thinking of doing a studio version of this one maybe one day, so to have a better opening with the trees behind.

This commission was done for a couple, as they wanted the cello to stand out (his instrument) alongside the theme of the memento mori (her wish). It was a technically difficult piece as I had to change a lot of things during the process, but it was a good exercise and I am happy of how it came out. I tried interpreting the theme of the memento mori (aka "remember you will die") with my own approach. Since it's a very dark and heavy subject, I wanted to have this specific fabric, alongside the opening to the window, with the moon being a last minute addition.
One month after I finished and delivered the painting, I was very shocked to learn the sudden passing of the woman (who was insisting on the memento mori)...
In life there are experiences like this which make you question reality and spirituality... and I hope at least my painting will bring solace rather than sadness to the family.

Plein air of the sea; it's actually a pretty small

Plein air of the sea; it's actually a pretty small format, but I enjoyed capturing the rythme of the waves while painting alla prima.
I love painting at the beach. I always take full advantage of the days I can access one (=not in switzerland haha)

Another beach plein air; I loved these small purple flowers on the rocks! Sometimes it's a good break to go from full landscape to study individual elements when painting all day.
(Also painting over pointy rocks is great for having little people coming to distract you muhaha)

Plein air at Castiglioncello (Tuscany), done during a surprisingly productive day where I did 3 good paintings, 1 drawing AND I went to swim twice! 💁‍♀️ So I don't know what to make of it, maybe that artistic work can also be done with fun and happiness, instead of painful discipline.

You can hear on the third slide the wind of that day; despite the sun, it made it ideal conditions for painting outside.
